So you like loud music? WEAR EAR PLUGS!! I (Manda) am a big supporter of organizations that assist the deaf. Many do not know that I suffer from complete hearing loss in my right ear. In 1997, I had rare sudden hearing loss due to a virus that attacked my auditory nerve. My hearing was completely normal before this, and in my situtation the hearing loss was not due to loud noise (as many initially think because I am in a band). It changed my life in many ways. It initially effected my balance, but it also changed the way I sit at tables in restaurants (so I can hear everyone), talk on the phone, and communicate with others. It almost made me quit music, but fortunately I was able to overcome this and adjust. However, I continue to hear out of only my left ear. The communication hurdle involved with hearing loss is something that is dealt with on a daily basis. It also can be a difficult thing to deal with when you are a musician. This whole experience made me realize the difficulties the completely deaf must face each day. So your ears are important - believe me -- you don't want to lose your hearing. So take care of your ears and always wear ear plugs!!!
